8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Aug. 5. Pride Celebration in the Park, Ellenberger Park, 5301 East St Clair Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219 Indiana Pride of Color hosts 3rd annual event to celebrate LGBTQ intersecting Identities. Cost: Free.

 

1 to 3 p.m., Aug. 6.  All About Bees, Garfield Park, 2345 Pagoda Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46203 Observe how honey is harvested; taste a sample; Meet beekeepers. Ages 16 and up. Cost: Free.

 

All Day, Aug. 7, Purple Heart Day 5k and 10k, Any Place. This self-recorded event gives a portion of all registration fees to the Purple Heart Foundation. Cost: $17.

 

7:30 p.m., Aug. 8, Foellinger Outdoor Theatre Concert Series, Foellinger Theatre, 705 E State Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN.  The Fort Wayne Area Community Band will be putting on a free performance. Cost: Free.

 

7 p.m., Aug. 9, Sabrina Carpenter in Concert, Murat Theatre at Old National Center, 502 N New Jersey St, Indianapolis, IN. See Girl Meets World star Sabrina Carpenter live in concert. Cost: $35.

 

6 to 9 p.m., Aug. 10, Community Dog Walk, Broad Ripple United Methodist Church, 6185 Guilford Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46220. This one mile dog walk splits donations between The Broad Ripple Village Association and Friends of Broad Ripple Park to install waste stations and better the park. Cost: Free.

 

4 to 10 p.m., Aug. 11, Broad Ripple Carnival, Broad Ripple,1550 Broad Ripple Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46220. With over 20 carnival rides and games, the second Broad Ripple Carnival will have community booths and a history exhibit on display. Cost: Free.

 

7:30 p.m., Aug. 12, Aretha Franklin in Concert, Foellinger Theatre, 3411 Sherman Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46808. Famous singer Aretha Franklin comes to Indy to spread her soulful jazz music. Cost: $59.

 

8 p.m., Aug. 13, Bruno Mars in Concert, Bankers Life Fieldhouse,125 S Pennsylvania St, Indianapolis, IN 46204. The 24k Magic Tour comes to Indy. Cost: $148.

 

8 a.m., Aug. 14, Happy Together Tour, 1202 East 38th Street, 60’s musicians such as The Turtles, The Box Tops and The Cowsills take on the Chevrolet Silverado Free Stage at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Cost: $12.

 

6:15 p.m., Aug. 15, Family Garden Club Garfield Park Conservatory, 2345 Pagoda Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46203. Over the course of 3 months, families can come in every other Tuesday to tend to their own garden plot and watch their crops grow. For 3+. Cost: $75 per family.

8 p.m., Aug. 19, Shakespeare Company, Garfield Park, 2345 Pagoda Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46203. A local performance of one of Shakespeare’s most well known plays, Much Ado About Nothing. Cost: Free.

 

8 a.m., Aug. 20, Closing Day of State Fair, 1202 East 38th Street. Your last chance to see the concerts, try the unconventional fried foods, and take a selfie at the top of the ferris wheel. Cost: $12.

 

6 p.m., Aug. 21, Indianapolis Theatre Fringe Festival, Mass Ave Theatre, 627 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46204. The Fringe Festival is a performance of small plays acted by local Indy actors and resembles Perry’s own FEST. Cost: $12 for students.

 

7: 05 p.m., Aug. 22, Indianapolis vs. Louisville, Victory Field, 501 W Maryland St, Indianapolis, IN 46225. The Indianapolis Indians go up against the Louisville Bats in a baseball showdown event. Cost: $20.

 

7 p.m., Aug. 23, IN Fever vs. NY Liberty, Bankers Life Fieldhouse, 125 S Pennsylvania St, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Come see Indiana’s Natalie Achonwa battle against New York’s Tina Charles. Cost: $13.

 

5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Aug. 24, Naturally Inspired Silent Auction,  Indianapolis Zoo, 1200 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Bid on locally painted/sculpted pieces of art drafted after the Indy Zoo’s very own animals. Meet the artists and receive exclusive access to the Hilbert Conservatory. Cost: $14 for members, $20 for non members.

 

7:30 p.m., Aug. 25, Retro Rewind 80’s Film Fest, The Artcraft Theatre, 57 N Main St, Franklin, IN 46131. Revisit classic 80’s films such as Big and Raising Arizona in this two day nostalgic film fest. Cost: $15 to $25.

 

4 to 8 p.m., Aug. 26, Bluegrass on the Square, Historic Downtown Corydon, 310 N Elm St, Corydon, IN 47112. Bring your own lawnchairs and blankets for a night of music featuring Katie Penn and Becky Buller. Cost: Free.

 

9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 27, Indiana Toy and Comic Expo, Monroe County Convention Center, 302 S College Ave, Bloomington, IN 47403. This kids friendly event entails panels, toys, comics and art. Cost: $5.

 

Whenever select restaurants open, Aug. 28, Devour Indy Summerfest, across Indiana. Devour Indy is a city wide event where over 200 participating restaurants across Indianapolis serve three course meals for on a new value priced menu. Go to DevourIndy.com to revue the list of restaurants, choose which one you want to devour, and ask for the Devour Menu. Cost: Depends on select restaurants.

 

10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Aug. 29, Ice Age Graveyard, Indiana State Museum, 650 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Learn about Indiana’s history during the ice age in an interactive limited time exhibit. Cost: $8.95.

 

7 p.m., Aug. 30, Lifehouse and Switchfoot in Concert, White River State Park, 801 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46204. As part of their Looking For Summer Tour, these two bands will perform hit songs like You and Me, Whatever It Takes and Dare You To Move. Cost: $27.

9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Aug. 31, Butterfly Kaleidoscope, Indianapolis Zoo, 1200 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Observe more than 40 species of butterflies, with 30 of them being new to the observatory. Cost: $12.50 for non zoo members.
