Wrestlers Place Top 20
PM takes down some summer competition
I did 8-3 as a team and 16th overall. — Devin Wehr
The official name is 2017 Amateur Athletic Union Scholastic Duals. The event was held from June 13-16 at ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Bay Lake, Florida, 28 minutes from Orlando. The facility boasts 170 events from amateur to pro level athletes.
Senior Devin Wehr went the last two years. The year before that Perry competed in New Orleans Jazz Town Folkstyle Duals. He likes summer wrestling because it gets him in better shape for the upcoming season, even if the team placed lower than Perry did last year..
The boys managed to take in the experience despite a significant difference in the standings. “There was a lot of team bonding,” according to senior Noah Warren. Perhaps a bond as strong as chain. A few people bought gold chains at a place called Old Town. An Instagram post depicted wrestlers wearing multiple shiny necklaces, but it failed to capture the complete journey of PM combatants.
Wehr said, “I did 8-3 as a team and 16th overall.” There is an explanation for Perry’s performance. “We got put in the hardest bracket and caused us to miss out on going to the winners bracket and we got put in the silver bracket and did the best we could. Now, if we did not get stuck with the hardest bracket we probably would have got top 10.”
