Abbie Simpson, Staff Reporter
Hi my name is Abbie Simpson and I am a junior! This will be my first year on the FOCUS staff. I am heavily involved in all things theater at Perry Meridian High School like the On The Spot! Improv Team and FEST. In addition to theater, I am also a choreography captain for SRO, one of two PMHS show choirs. So far, Matilda the Musical has been my favorite production to be a part of because of the powerful messages it presents about individuality and advocating for yourself. My favorite production I have been in so far is Matilda because of the challenges the show and the message that it presents about individuality and the importance of vulnerability and independence. I strive to be an advocate for human rights which is why I will be writing about Current Events/World News. It is important to me that the student body is informed about what is happening in the world that we live in and how they can be involved. I think students should be “hitting the vape of knowledge” as Mr. Winn says, instead of being a bystander to their own life. I will also be writing for the Lifestyle beat because I am passionate about the little things in life. My parents have reinforced my love of movies, food and music since I was little which is why I cannot wait to write for this beat. Unfortunately, I developed a gluten allergy earlier this year so I am very excited to start diving deeper into new foods and telling other people about the wonders of a breadless life. I am so excited to see what the FOCUS will become this year and I cannot wait to contribute!
