Jasmine Villegas

Hi, my name is Jasmine Villegas and I’m currently a junior this year! I am not much of an “extracurricular” type of person but I joined FOCUS on a whim. I wanted to do something with my time, other than my job, but I was not sure what I wanted to do for my junior year. After two weeks, It was the end of my sophomore year and I checked my email. I had been sent two emails, and I was recommended for both the FOCUS and the yearbook. It was not a tough decision for me since I have always been interested in writing, and I wanted to meet new people. I was around the same group of people on a daily basis. I wanted a change since I’m the type of person who does not like the same schedule every day;  I am constantly looking for a change in my life.  With FOCUS, I could expect something different every day without having to fall asleep in class every day. One of the beats that I’m focusing on this year is current events. I’m passionate about this subject because I feel as if there are important events happening around the world that could help others understand people’s experiences. I want people to be more open-minded, and actually, LISTEN to the people that want to be heard. Others will “listen” but not truly absorb the information they are being told, and I think I could grasp the attention of those who are not willing to listen.
