French language takes over fellow falcons
At Perry Meridian High School, students have the choice of taking French, Spanish, or German. German and Spanish have had their own society that has been going on for years while French hasn’t been able to have their own, until now.
The French National Honors Society, also known as Société Honoraire de Français, started this year and is run by Madame Brianna Fox next to both co-presidents, Monick Padilla-Rodriguez and Olivia May.
On Friday the 9th, they had their first meeting where they were able to meet their student leadership and some of the things that are being planned by the leadership for the society.
“I’m really excited because more students than I expected joined and the student leaders are taking the lead in getting things done for the society,” said Madame Fox.
“Our goal is to promote French in Perry Township and in the state of Indianapolis. We plan to celebrate National French week and we also plan on going to elementary schools to promote the French language to see if we can get them to take it during their high school years,” explained Madame Fox.
On Saturday the 10th, members of the society had the chance to visit The St. Joan of Arc French Market where French dishes would be made, French wine would be served, and music would be played.
As for the members in the society, they are very excited to see the student leadership making something out of the French National Honors Society that could impact so many students in years to come.
