Falcons fall to number one in the mid-state Whiteland

Perry Meridian came out strong against Whiteland , their second conference matchup of the year, capping off their lengthy opening drive with a touchdown and two-point conversation. This energy carried over to the defense where senior Isaiah Hunter intercepted a long pass attempt from Whiteland’s Kevin Denham, giving the Falcons the ball and a chance to go up two scores.

The momentum ended here for the Falcons as the Warriors forced a three and out and took over leading them to a 26-8 lead going into halftime.

Whiteland received the ball to start the second half and picked up right where they left off, rushing for a 15-yard touchdown pushing the Warriors’ lead to 33-8.

The Falcons were quick to respond, marching down the field whereIsaiah Hunter ended the drive with a rushing touchdown, cutting down the lead to  33-16. The Falcons did not stop there as the very next possession Isaiah Hunter had his second interception of the night giving the ball back to Perry Meridian.

The Falcons offense did not miss this opportunity as they pushed the ball deep into Whiteland territory, ending in Zack Huckaby finding Jaylen Young in the back of the endzone for a Falcon touchdown.

Whiteland would respond with a 30-yard passing touchdown and an onside kick recovery,  that ultimately ended the game as the Warriors went on to win 47-23.

The Falcons are back at home next week against the Greenwood Woodman for Homecoming.
